On February 10th, 1958, a group of members from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church
of Fairport Harbor, Ohio met at the Arnold Ollila home under the guidance of their
pastor, Rev. Paavo Frusti to discuss and set up a plan to organize a much-needed
mission congregation on the east side of the fast-growing community of Painesville
Township
From that beginning, our congregation was born. Named St. Paul's after the Christian
faith's greatest missionary, the church was acutally constructed by our own members
in 1959. Foregoing time they could have spend on themselves, they sacrificed their
evenings, Saturdays, free time, and vacations for the building of this house of
God. On May 22, 1960, after one year of hard but joyous labor, St. Paul's Evangelical
Lutheran Church was dedicated with three inspiring services led by Rev. John Mattson,
our first 'called' pastor. There have been many building expansions and renovations
since, but even more importantly, God's kingdom has been built among us through
the faithful witness of his people and the sharing of His Word with our community.
Today, we stand together at an exiciting time in our church's history. Through the
teaching ministries of St. Paul's Preschool and Our Shepherd Lutheran School; through
worship and Bible study; through building relationships and personal invitation
we strive to introduce people to the saving grace of Jesus. We pray that you will
feel warmly welcomed here, as we draw strength from our living Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ.
We believe that all people are sinners and are separated from God. We believe that
God in His love sent Jesus Christ to pay for our sins and to provide forgiveness
and life to us. We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we
are won back to God and receive the gift of eternal life. We believe the Bible is
God’s Word, a certain and complete source of God’s will and love for our lives.

Regular use of our gifts, talents and offerings in service to Christ and His church.
