“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from
it.” Proverbs 22:6
Welcome to St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool in the name of our Lord Jesus! With your
help your child has learned so many things. He can communicate his needs, tell you
about his day, and express his independence. How marvelously he has grown! We look
forward to working with you to continue to nurture and guide your child as he continues
to grow and develop.
In grateful response to God's love for us in Christ Jesus, it is the mission of
St. Paul's Lutheran Preschool to assist families in carrying out God's command to
educate His children and prepare them for a Christ-centered life of learning and
service.
St. Paul's Lutheran Preschool is a non-profit organization licensed through the
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. We follow all of the licensing rules
that apply to our program. We are now accredited by the National Lutheran Schools
Accreditation. St. Paul's Preschool has earned a 2 Star Rating by the Ohio Step
Up to Quality program.
Our preschool program is based on the premise that children learn best through play-based,
hands-on experiences in an environment where individual needs of each child are
taken into consideration. Therefore, although specific objectives differ for each
child, our preschool program provides the following for all children:
- experience to help children learn to know and learn about a loving God.
- opportunities for children to grow in self-confidence and an appreciation for others.
- an environment to stimulate the learning of young children.
- readiness to enter kindergarten.
Staff members meet the academic qualifications for their position, have required
State training, attend conferences and workshops to further their professional growth,
and posess a love and interest in children and their families.
Daily schedule will include activities in the following areas:
- Spiritual/social/emotional development
- Communication (language)
- Expressive arts (creative activities)
- Wellness (physical development)
- Discovery (cognitive development)
The teachers have access to the State of Ohio Early Learning Standards and will
plan their activities within the framework of these guidelines. Classroom lesson
plans are posted for parents to view each day.
- Arrival and Opening: Small activities are available for children as they arrive
in order to make separation and transition occur as smoothly as possible.
- Jesus Time: Prayer, songs and Bible stories are a part of our curriculum. These
activities are the introduction to the theme for the day.
- Large Group: Children are brought together to share ideas, listen to stories, gain
information and develop a sense of belonging to the classroom community.
- Small Group: Children are given activities and instructions within a small group
of peers. This allows for personalized instruction.
- Center Time: Children are free to explore the classroom and choose a variety of
activities to do independently or with peers.
- Snack: A two food group snack is served and table manners are taught and practiced.
- Gross Motor/Music Time: Emphasis is placed on physical development of large and
small muscles.
